"The Sand Lot"

Tonight was the closing ceremonies for the baseball season. They had a games, hot dogs, and presentations of each team among other things. The league had rented a sound system and showed "The Sand Lot" on a large screen. At JC Park the field is cut into the side of a hill. The screen was placed in the outfield behind third base facing the third base line. We were able to sit on the hillside and watch the movie. It was a lot of fun for me. Nathan, Maggey and Abbey stayed to watch the movie with me. Nathan really wanted to see this movie on the "big screen". It got a bit chilly and before the movie was over Nathan was rolled up in a sheet we were using as a blanket, and using one of my legs as a pillow. Maggey was wrapped in a blanket and laying on my chest. Abbey was content to sit on the ledge/cement wall. It was good time for me. I certainly hope it will be one they will remember.

Boys of Summer

We have just finished our last season game. The last two games the team played fantastic. They did very well considering that three of the the players played in positions where they have never played or practiced. We ended first in the our league (Don't tell that there were only 3 teams in our league. In our league/division our was 8 wins/2 losses. Over all we had a record of 11 wins/4 losses. They have great reason to be proud of themselves.

First 2 Official Days of Summer

I am finishing my second day of "my" summer. Yesterday I played in a golf tournament, had a nap and went to the movies with the Nathan, Maggey, and Abbey. Today, I went to another movie, napped, read, baseball meeting, and surfed the net. Don't anyone tell Jen. Yes, I have enjoyed being lazy.
Dane, Jeff, and Mike will openly admit that I do not golf well. They may even be kind enough to not say that in my presence...okay they would to be glad to tell you regardless if I'm around. However, yesterday was the my best game ever. I shot my first birdie. It was a lot of fun. Even more amazing is the fact that I did on a par 3. Par 3's are historically my worst holes to play. I even was able to put my name on the "closest to the hole card" for a period of time. It was fun to play well.
Bert is doing pretty well. He has a lot of leaves on him. He even stands out from the weeds around him. Ernie on the other hand has very few leaves, but seems to be among the living. I have as yet to plant anything more than tomatoes. I am going to work on that this week.
We have two more weeks of baseball and then a tournament. We may also be playing an all star tournament in the same week as the our championship tournament.
Anyone know of a part time job that I could get until Jan?
As always,
