Okay Tyler, Here's the Plan

Because I am one of the poor government workers...okay Tyler I am just kidding. I can't afford to pay myself, but at Tyler's suggestion, I can award myself points. I figure 1,000 points is a good goal. I can award myself 5 points for every time I go to the fitness center to work out. I am not much of a water drinker. For every time I drink at least I drink cup of water or so I will give myself 1 point. I really can't give myself points for losing weight. I would give myself points for losing the same couple of pounds. If that sounds confusing it's like this: Tue morning I can weigh 284. On Fri morning I can weigh 281. On Tue I can weigh 283; Fri I am down to 280; Tue I am at 284 again. You get the idea.
Also, I am not a fan of packing a lunch. If I eat a healthy lunch I would award myself 5 points. Exercising and eating a healthy lunch I can earn as much as 65 points in a week's time.
As I have given this some thought, the problem I am coming up with is what is worth a 1,000 points. I am thinking that a Wii would be great, but I'm not sure I can follow through with that. Maybe I'll go get me a prime rib, cook it and eat it all by myself. I think about that one some more.
Thanks again Tyler and Thanks to Ashley for getting me started.

Thoughts of Today

First, Tyler's plan for exercise is very inspiring. Thanks Tyler. My only problem is that I cannot currently pay myself. I am working to change that. Keep going Tyler. If you start burning off your own weight and need some more to burn I'll be happy to send you some of mine and you can burn it off; I am not doing so well.
The last month or so my class has been reading and writing different types of poetry. I have taken some of these poems, typed and bound them for our classroom library. It has been a lot of fun to read. The last set the class wrote is called Name Poem. I assigned the class to use the word WORLD. Each line has to start with the letter of the word. In this case W starts the first sentence, O starts the second, and so on. They read one of these poems in class. I then assigned them to write two with words of their choosing. I have had a lot of fun reading them as I have typed them. I am tempted to make a copy of the book for all of them. The third set of poems is a bio poem. One about themselves. I have not collected them yet.
I had one more thing to write about and can't remember, Oh well.

Something Fun

I got to do something fun today!
Next week is Dad's birthday. I am not one to be creative about gifts and things. A while ago Dad was talking about going to the movies. At the Cinemark here in town Seniors (that's not seniors in high school) gets in for a discount on Modays. He suggested a couple of movies he wanted to see. Last week I thought it would be fun to take him to the movies. So, I took he and Mom to the see Mall Cop today. I told them if they didn't laugh that I must have a somewhat warped sense of humor.
When I go to a movie I always have to have a bag of popcorn and a coke (I can blame Jen for that). I bought a bag to share with all of us. When we sat down. Dad was in the middle and Mom and I on either side. After I got sat down, Mom and Dad were talking about something and Mom came and sat by me. I had the popcorn on my lap, so I got sit in the middle.
It was really fun and nice to know that I can be creative sometimes.
Love,

Me

Not that I have anything to really say, I might use this for its purpose...to ramble. I feel so tired I don't even know what to ramble about. School has been going pretty well. We have been studying a lot of fractions. We have also been writing different types of poems. Today my students recited their word poems. I assigned them to write a poem using the word "World". I am going to type them, bind them and put out for students to read. I am pretty excited to do it. We did the same thing with another set of poems. It was really fun to read. I hope the students enjoy reading them as much as I did.
I am still waiting for the electrician to install my audio equipment. It will make the poems my class recites so much more fun to hear. The class will not have to hear me yell, "Louder".
I do have some wonderful colleagues. I was feeling light headed the other day. A couple of weeks earlier my blood pressure was lower than normal. I thought maybe it was still low. I also couldn't think straight.
The secretary was asking me if I needed to go home. I don't know if it is good or bad, but our custodian is a former paramedic.
Time is flying by. I can't believe that next week is the end of January. I was talking with my students and told them that May will be here before they know it.
I think I'm done for now.

Sorry...One Other Thing to Mention

Well, Tyler can brag about having floor seats at a Jazz game. Though I cannot brag about attending a Jazz game. I can brag about having fourth row seats to the BYU/TCU game. We sat fourth row at mid court. I did get dinner with my seat and half time snacks. The one thing that I have over Tyler's experience is that my tickets were FREE. I would love one day to have a the opportunity to have the same experience that Tyler had. He has given me some inspiration to pursue it.
Again, Love you all

Taxes

It is that time of the year again. I am officially starting working for the tax season this year.

Advertisement: If you go to www.express1040.com you can file your federal tax return for free and file your state tax return for $9.95. We do many forms necessary to file your taxes. If you choose to receive your refund by direct deposit you can receive your refund in as little as 8 days. If you have questions let me know.

Okay that my advertisement for the day or month or something.
I was able to talk with a district electrician. He hopes to install my audio enhancement system within the next 3 weeks. I am really excited, and am looking forward to using it. One of the 6th grade teachers told that once I get use to it I will never want to go without one.
I had better get back to work.

Knowledge, Wisdom & Mr. Rogers

After shoveling snow this morning for my workout I was lying on the couch resting. For some reason I was contiplating the difference between knowledge and wisdom. I either decided or had heard that knowledge is what you know and wisdom is what you do with the knowledge you have.
Now why Mr. Rogers? It is not a secret that I like things on the colder side of life. My classroom has been a little too cold. I happen to have a jacket on the back of my chair. I wore it yesterday and again today. While I was talking to my students I looked down and seeing the jacket on me, I instantly felt like Mr. Rogers. The zipper doesn't work so I didn't zip it up, nor did I sing a song. I really liked him and was saddened when he died. I believe he did a lot of good for the world. It did give me a chuckle for the day.

The End

The End...of what you might ask? I only refer to the end of my mostly wonderful Christmas holiday. I have slept in, opened presents, eaten, seen a few movies, started working for Taxhawk, and the list could continue a little further. I am not looking forward to getting up at 515 to go to the fitness center again. Mid morning was wonderful. Nathan and I went tonight and it was relatively empty, unlike it is on a weekday mornings. In the beginning I had lost at most 1.3 pounds. I weighed today and was up 2.7 pounds from the time I started. I am hoping it was muscle weight. I have been at this activity for over a month now. If I have to miss doing a workout and I know it, I try to bypass the walking and lift weights instead. I can't say if I have built any muscle, but I hope so. I should have been concerned about my weight about 14 years ago. I am a "little" slow. I am not so much exercising to loose weight. I am doing it just get into better shape, but I do need to track the weight. I weigh in twice a week. Tuesday and Friday mornings.
I am a excited to get school into full swing again. I do not have a clue as to what I will do the first week we are back. I'll worry about that on Monday. I am excited to get my class started on the annual chess tournament. The student that won the tournament last year also won it in when he was my student in third grade. It is an activity I do in the cold months of the year. I hope it helps break up the monotany of winter.
Living close to the school where I teach it is always fun to see who is at the school when I drive by at different times when school is out. There are a few of the faculty that are at the school constantly. Unlike me who show up on rare occasions.
Happy New Year to all!!!!!
